Accessibility statement
StateMentor should be usable by everyone, whatever their setup. This page describes what we've built in, what we know needs work, and how to tell us about problems.
Our standard
We work to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA across the platform, and we test new features against it before release.
What's built in
- Full keyboard operation, with a "skip to content" link on every page and visible focus indicators on all interactive elements.
- Status and validation are never communicated by colour alone, badges and messages always carry text.
- Motion and animation are reduced automatically when your system asks for reduced motion.
- Text colours meet AA contrast ratios against their backgrounds, and the interface scales cleanly with browser zoom and larger text sizes.
- Semantic landmarks, labelled forms and ARIA roles on interactive patterns such as the scenario step tabs and confirmation dialogs.
- Confirmation dialogs can be dismissed with Escape and return focus to where you were.
Known limitations
- The simulated statement sheet uses a monospaced, ruled-paper appearance for realism; the same content is always available to assistive technology as plain text.
- PDF exports of statements are generated documents and may not carry full structural tagging yet.
Tell us about a problem
If any part of StateMentor is hard to use with a screen reader, keyboard, magnifier or any other assistive technology, contact us and tell us what you were doing and what got in the way. Accessibility reports go to the front of the queue.
